Realizing the Potential of Natural Resources
Nippon Steel Trading supplies the Japanese steel industry, in particular Nippon Steel Corporation, with raw materials from all over the world, including coking coal, steel scrap, ferro-alloys and auxiliary raw materials. In addition, we handle marine fuel oil.
With the fuel and raw materials trade as a base, we are actively securing stable and diverse supply sources worldwide. In particular, as for coal, our supply sources cover an extensive area, including Australia, the United States, China, Vietnam, Russia and New Zealand.
In Australia, we have capital stakes in multiple coal mines. Also, we are committed to a new joint coal mine development project with Nippon Steel in Mozambique, a country now attracting worldwide attention as a new coking coal supply source.
Furthermore, to supply raw materials to both domestic and overseas customers, we founded a joint manufacturing company which furnishes a steady supply of melt-down stainless steel scrap to Nippon Steel & Sumikin Stainless Steel Corporation’s Hikari Works. Also, we are exporting blast furnace slag and playing an active role in recycling efforts.
